MULTAN, April 5: The Anti-Corruption Establishment (ACE) on Friday registered Rs10 million corruption case against 14 officials of the Public Health Engineering Department (PHED).

Manzoor Elahi, a resident of katchi abadi, had alleged in his plaint that officials embezzled funds allocated for different development schemes in the Vehari district.

The ACE conducted a probe and found the officials guilty of charges.

Those booked are: XEN Zia Bhatti; SDOs Muneer Ahmad, Muhammad Javed, Rifat Gardezi, Sheikh Muneer; overseers Ghulam Nabi, Manzoor Ahmad, Bashir Ahmad, Majeed Rasheed, Imdad Hussain, Abdul Ghaffar, Akbar Ali, Mujahid Rasheed and accountant Muhammad Azam.

Meanwhile, the ACE claimed to have recovered Rs1.2 million after arresting 94 officials of different departments in the month of March.

The ACE registered 184 corruption cases and conducted 257 inquiries against officials of police, irrigation, education, accounts, food, public health engineering, cooperative societies and health departments.—Nouman
