MIANWALI, April 5: The local district council in its meeting unanimously passed a resolution urging the government to enhance its tenure from three to five years.
All members opined that the newly-introduced district government system required some time to understand local bodies rules.
They said the chief executive was enhancing his tenure as president for five years, adding that their tenure should also be increased for delivering their best.
Earlier, the district Nazim announced his full support for referendum to elect Gen Pervez Musharraf as president for five years.
DISMISSED: The district and sessions judge, Bhakkar, dismissed an election petition here on Friday.
Haji Muhammad Riaz of Rikhi union council No 30, Tamewali, had filed an election petition against Nazim Malik Muhammad Akram Awan advocate.
The petition was dismissed on the plea that the petitioner had filed the forged matriculation certificate which was duly verified by the secondary board.
INFORMATION OFFICE: Believe it or not the local district information office has been working without the information officer for the last eight months.
All office affairs are being run by a clerk. Local journalists have made frequent visits to the provincial DGPR, but to no avail.
They are facing problems in the absence of the information officer and have urged the high-ups for immediate appointment of the information officer at Mianwali.
