LAHORE, Jan 11: A worker was burnt to death and three others injured in an explosion in a furnace of a steel mill on Peco Road, Badami Bagh, on Friday.

Edhi officials said Amjad, Idrees, Inayatullah and Jamil were working at a furnace of Patiala Steel Mills when an explosion took place because of chemicals. All four workers were injured. They were taken to Mayo Hospital where Jamil succumbed to his injuries.

FIRE: A fire broke out in an office on the eighth floor of Ashrafi Tower on Gulberg’s Main Boulevard and burnt chemicals, stationary and hardboard.

According to fire officials, the fire broke out due to a short-circuit and also suffocated office worker Akram.

Akram, a resident of Manawala, was taken to a nearby hospital.
