HARIPUR, Jan 10: A councillor was shot dead in the Najafpur village, some 45 kilometres from here on Thursday. The cause of the killing is said to be an old family dispute.

The deceased was identified as Abdul Fatah Awan.

Police said he was going to Tarnawa area when Afsar Zaman and his son Akhtar Nawaz allegedly opened fire on him. He died on the spot.—Correspondent
