LAHORE, Jan 9: The City District Government Lahore on Wednesday fixed the price of the liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) at Rs64 per kilo and the price will be applicable to distributors with immediate effect and to retailers from Thursday (today).

A meeting of the LPG distributors besides Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (Ogra) representatives, presided over by district coordination officer Mian Ijaz, also decided on Wednesday to intensify crackdown on people found selling the gas more than the prices fixed by the CDGL.

Recommendations to cancel licences of four LPG distributors, found selling gas at exorbitant price, were also sent to the Ogra.

District officer (environment) Tariq Zaman would supervise the operation of eight teams, constituted to ensure sale of LPG at Rs64 per kilo in Lahore.

Meanwhile, the CDGL teams nabbed 12 retailers while selling LPG between Rs100 and Rs125 per kilo from various parts of the city on Wednesday.

“Three of them were sent behind the bars for five days, a fine of Rs5,000 each was imposed on another three while five more will remain in jail for five days and each will pay Rs5,000,” Tariq said.
