PESHAWAR, Jan 9: NWFP caretaker Chief Minister Shamsul Mulk has issued directives for redeployment of forces in sensitive parts of the province to ensure peace during Muharram.

“There is very critical and extra ordinary situation in the country that demands extraordinary preparedness to tackle all sorts of threats to the peace in the province,” he said.

The chief minister was presiding over a meeting held to review arrangements for maintaining peace during the holy month on Wednesday.

The meeting reviewed the preparedness of the administration and took a number of decisions for redeployment of forces, intelligence gathering and intelligence sharing in the NWFP and Fata.

The chief minister directed for steps to tackle any untoward incident. He said all departments should evolve a target-oriented approach to check those who were out to disturb law and order situation.

The chief minister called for an effective intelligence gathering and intelligence sharing mechanism. He sought cooperation from the general public at large to secure a favourable environment.

He asked the quarters concerned to engage all communities in the Hangu district and find a reasonable solution to their grievances.

The chief minister directed for activating the intelligence committees at district level.
