KARACHI, April 4: Renowned TV artiste, Bushra Ansari, has sought President General Pervez Musharraf’s help in recovering her lost amount as a last resort.
The artiste had lost Rs450,000, during a Lahore-Karachi PIA flight on Nov 18, 2001. An FIR was also lodged with the airport police station in Karachi.
Bushra Ansari made the appeal to the President while addressing a press conference at her residence, on Thursday.
“Being a TV artiste, I have used all the resources at my disposal for recovery of the said amount, but in vain. What ordeal a common PIA passenger faces during a flight can well be imagined,” she said.
She also said that during the course of three months, she learned about several such instances in which valuables such as jewellry and cash have simply disappeared from luggage passing through the X-ray machines and during cargo handling at the airport.
She said that the PIA MD kept on asking for a few more days and since then three months have passed by.
Lambasting the PIA staff, she appealed to President Musharraf to look into the affairs of PIA.
She acknowledged the suspension of several PIA officials at the Lahore airport, but maintained that the move did not redress her loss.
