RAWALPINDI, Jan 7: Police investigating into the theft of two newborn babies from a local hospital have failed to trace the missing infants.
In the light of information provided by a caller that an issueless woman had been keeping a newborn baby in a village of Gujar Khan, a police party was sent to recover the baby. But the call turned out to be a hoax, as the said woman was not having any baby.
Inspector Asghar Goraya, who has been leading the investigation into the two similar cases, said the caller had informed them that a woman in his village, who was to be separated from her husband, was desperately wishing to have a child to get a share in her husband’s property. The caller said a baby was seen with the woman and he could be one of the two infants stolen from the Holy Family Hospital.
He said a police party was sent to the village but the information proved unproductive.
