HYDERABAD, Oct 22: SSP Dadu has suspended Dadu police station’s SHO Abdul Majeed Kolachi and ASI Jaro Khan on charges of corruption and causing harassment to an applicant.

SSP Dadu Mushtaq Ahmed Mahar has also issued them show cause notices and a departmental inquiries has also been initiated against them.

This report was submitted by the SSP to Sindh High Court Hyderabad circuit bench here on Monday in connection with a constitutional petition.

Ali Asghar, official of Sazda Kohistan division, Sehwan Sharif, filed a constitutional petition against three private respondents, Gul Hassan, Khadim Hussain and Abdul Razaque, and SHO Abdul Majid and ASI Jaro Khan, praying the court to direct police officials not to harass him and his family and to return Rs30,000 taken by the police officials as illegal gratification.

The petitioner said that a civil litigation, involving a property and concerning his mother Ms. Waziran and aunt Ms. Haleeman, was pending in Dadu civil court.

He added that his brothers-in-law were pressurising him to waive-off their share in the property and they were also using the influence of respondent police officials in this context.

He alleged that police officials had unleashed a reign of terror against his family.

He said that when his brother Ali Akbar went to the court for pursuing the case, he was arrested and involved in a false criminal case by the SHO at the behest of his in-laws.

The petitioner charged that the SHO released his brother after taking Rs30,000 bribe.

He said that the case had been challaned in the court of judicial magistrate, Dadu, yet the police officials were harassing him and his family.

He said that on August 30 the police officials raided his house in odd hours and told the members that they should send the petitioner and his brother Ali Akbar to Dadu police station.

When the petitioner went to the police station he was informed by police officials that his in-laws had filed complaints against them and they were required to pay Rs50,000 failing which they would be implicated in false cases of heinous nature.

He expressed his inability to pay the amount as he had already paid them Rs30,000.

The police again raided house of the petitioner who said that his family was living under constant fear and were unable to pursue their cases.

He sought the intervention of the court with directives to police officials not to harass them and return the amount taken by them as bribe.

Notices were issued to SSP Dadu who appointed ASP Sehwan inquiry officer.

ASP/SDPO Mujahid Akbar Khan in his inquiry report recommended to the SSP Dadu that the case against the petitioner should be disposed of as cancelled as it was a false FIR.

He said that both the police officials played a very nasty role and they not only defied the efforts taken by DSP Dadu for a peaceful solution but also kept on harassing the petitioner.
