PESHAWAR, Jan 1: The NWFP Minister for Schools and Literacy, Meraj Humayun Khan, has announced the establishment of three high schools within the underutilised premises of government schools here.

The minister announced this decision during a visit to the schools on Tuesday.

Chief Planning Officer Schools and Literacy Afsar Said also accompanied the minister.

Ms Khan highlighted that a huge part of buildings were being underutilised and added that these needed optimum utilisation.

She said that one high school for boys would be established at the available building within the premises of the Government Higher Secondary School No.1 Peshawar City.

She said that one high school for girls would be opened in the vacant building attached with the RITE (Female) Peshawar, while another would be built at the unused land of Government Higher Secondary School No.1 with the assistance of the private sector.

She said that at least Rs12 million would be spent on repair and renovation work, and added that the work on the schools would be completed by September 2008.—APP
