LAHORE, Dec 29: The Zahoor Elahi Road, which houses the residences of former chief minister Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi and PML-Q leader Chaudhry Shujaat Husain, remained a no-go area for the ordinary citizens for the third day running on Saturday.
Motorists using the road to travel between Gulberg and Shadman through City Canal Road have been facing inconvenience for the last three days.
At least five police reserves, Elite and mobile squads have been deployed with barricades at entry of FC College Canal Bridge and all roads and arteries leading towards their residences.
“We have been asked by the police high-ups to close the road to motorists till further orders as part of Mr Pervaiz Elahi’s security,” said a police official, who stopped this reporter from using the road.
“The government should completely close down the road, shift all schools and business houses from there besides the people living there to provide security to the Chaudhrys as they are the only human beings facing life threats in the country.
“The rest are scum for the government and if they have any mishap it would not have any impact,” a motorist expressed his resentment.
