PESHAWAR, April 1: The NWFP government has appointed seven special prosecutors for the newly-established Anti-Terrorism Courts (ATCs) in the province.

According to a notification issued here by the secretary of law department, Saleem Khan, an officer on special duty at the Advocate General’s office, Sher Muhammad Khan has been appointed for the ATC, Peshawar.

A woman prosecutor, Miss Surraya Jabeen has been posted at Mardan; Mushtaq Ahmad, a public prosecutor at Lakki, has been posted at ATC, Abbottabad; Mohammad Akram appointed at ATC Bannu; Attaullah Khan posted at D.I.Khan; Said Bashar posted at ATC Swat; and, Sikander Sahibzada has been posted at ATC Kohat.

These ATCs were established last week by the federal government  and  presiding officers  were  appointed  after consultation with the Chief Justice of Peshawar High Court.

Meanwhile, after the appointments  of prosecutors for the ATCs, and fall of vacancies the  provincial government has  transferred and posted 13 public prosecutors in the province.

According  to a notification issued here by  the  law department,  public  prosecutor (PP) Asmat Essa  has  been transferred from Peshawar to Charssada; Faheem Jan has been transferred from Mansehra and posted as an OSD at the advocate general’s office; and, Shah Alam Khan has been transferred from Charssada to Peshawar.

Moreover, additional PP, Charssada, Bilal Mohiuddin has been posted at the same station as acting PP; a law officer at advocate general’s office, Fakhrul Islam has been posted as acting PP at Mansehra; additional PP NWFP Services Tribunal, Sultan Mahmood, has been posted at the same place as acting PP; Amjad Ali, additional PP Bannu has been posted as acting PP prosecutor at Timergarah; Sikander Hayat, additional PP Haripur has been transferred and posted as acting PP Lakki Marwat; Mohammad Ibraheem Khan, additional PP Kohat has been posted as Acting PP Mardan; Amir Subhan Khan, additional PP Swat has been posted at acting PP Hangu; Mohammad Nawaz, additional PP Dir has been posted as acting PP Shangla; Mujarrab Khan, additional PP Mardan has been posted as acting PP Tank; and, Tariq Bakhsh, additional PP Matta (Swat) has been transferred and posted as acting PP, D. I. Khan.
