LAHORE, Dec 17: A full bench of the Lahore High Court has turned down petitions by former MNA Mian Munir and ex-MPA Akhtar Rasool, who were disqualified for their conviction in the Supreme Court rowdyism case.
A returning officer had rejected nomination papers of Mian Munir and Akhtar Rasool on the basis of their conviction, while an election tribunal confirmed their disqualification, rejecting their appeals.
Meanwhile, a full bench also dismissed petitions by Mehar Mahmood Ahmad against Irshad Ahmad Dogar’s candidature for PP-150. He alleged that Dogar had a fake BA degree.
The bench also turned down a petition by Muhammad Azam against Hamid Munir from PP-170. Azam alleged that Munir did not meet age requirement. The RO had rejected nominations of Munir, but later an election tribunal set aside the orders of the RO.
Petition of Sahibzada Qari Ghulam Yasin from PP-46 was also rejected because of lack of qualification.
