LAHORE, Dec 8: The Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Ltd (SNGPL) has sought cooperation from its consumers in order to cope with the 600 million cubic feet per day shortage, seemed imminent with the further decrease in mercury.

“The SNGPL has 1,850mcf per day gas in its system while the demand is likely to go up by 2,450 mcf per day this winter owing to addition of 225,000 new consumers during the current year, requiring additional 400mcf per day,” a spokesman said on Saturday.

Last winter, the SNGPL had to meet the shortfall by suspending supplies to some 450 industries but this year the number might exceed 650 factories or units.—Staff Reporter
