MIRPURKHAS: Engine, two bogies derail

MIRPURKHAS, Dec 8: An engine and two bogies of Mirpurkhas-bound 157-Up passenger train derailed near Tando Jam Railway Station, on Saturday.

Reports said 157-Up passenger train was coming to Mirpurkhas from Hyderabad. As it left Tando Jam Railway Station, its engine and two bogies derailed as a result some passengers sustained minor injuries.

Railway traffic was suspended between Mirpurkhas and Hyderabad. Railway officials reached the spot from Hyderabad along with technical staff and cleared the main track for railway traffic.

Passengers Mohammad Shoaib Panhwar, Mohammad Asif, Ikram and others on reaching Mirpurkhas, told reporters that the incident occurred due to alleged negligence of signal staff of Tando Jam. The Station Master was also absent while some Railways Department officials were allegedly playing cards at the time of incident.

They said some children and women sustained minor injuries in the accident.
