HYDERABAD, Dec 4: Ca-retaker Sindh Chief Minister, Justice (Rtd) Abdul Qadir Halepoto, has said that caretaker government is determined to conduct the upcoming elections in free, fair and transparent manner and advised the people to participate in the general elections as democracy was the only solution to their problems.Addressing notables at Circuit House here on Tuesday evening, Justice (Rtd) Halepoto said that the purpose of his visit to Hyderabad was to meet the notables and business community to deliver the message of President of Pakistan that the forthcoming elections would be conducted in a free, fair and transparent manner.
Mr Halepoto said that first time in the history of Pakistan national and provincial assemblies have completed their tenure and people were given legal rights to elect next assemblies and government of their choice.
The caretaker chief minister further said that “we have no affiliation with any political party or group and assured that all the functionaries of his government would discharge duties impartially”.
He said that clear orders have been issued to the administration to resolve the genuine complaints of all election contesting persons without any politically discrimination.
Mr Halepoto said that in addition to conduct free and fair elections, genuine problems of the people would be solved on priority, on merit and according to law.
While participating in deliberations, Professor Qavi Ahmed said that women participation, specially in the tribal areas, be encouraged. Sharif Ansari was of the view that due to peaceful atmosphere in Hyderabad, turnout of voters would not be less than 90 per cent.
Noted intellectual Hameed Sindhi said that civil society should encourage the voters to exercise their right of franchise.
Pir Abdul Rasheed Jan Sarhandi pointed out that management of sugar mills were not ready to pay sugarcane price of Rs67 per maund fixed by the government and added that this has resulted in huge loss to growers.
President of Hilal-e-Ahmer, Dr Farooque Memon, pointed out the impact of high prices, provision of more land for graveyard and beautifying entry points of the city, specially the Hyderabad railway station.
Earlier, the caretaker chief minister held a meeting with the delegation of Hyderabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry at Circuit House.
