TOBA TEK SINGH, Nov 30: Welcoming the APDM decision, the Labour Party Pakistan and National Workers Party hav appealed to PPP and its leader Benazir Bhutto to join the opposition drive for the reinstatement of deposed judges and restoration of true democracy.
Addressing a press conference here, LPP central secretary general Farooq Tariq and National Workers Party’s Punjab president Chaudry Fateh Muhammad said the restoration of pre-Nov 3 judiciary was the core issue and every political party must support this demand.
Farooq Tariq said that the LPP would withdraw 30 nominations of its candidates for national and provincial assembly seats which had already been declared in order. He said that all the opposition parties should boycott the general elections because participation would legitimize the present undemocratic set-up.
Meanwhile, NA 93 candidate and Toba JI ameer Dr Zahid Sattar and PML-N’s district president and PP-86 candidate Chaudry Amjad Ali Javed have, in separate press statements, welcomed the APDM decision of boycotting the polls and announced that they would abide by the decision of their parties.—Correspondent
