MUZAFFARGARH, Nov 27: District nazim Qayyum Jatoi has submitted his nomination papers for NA-179 and NA-180 and also resigned from the slot.

Reports said when Qayyum Jatoi came to the court to submit his candidature on Monday night, some politicians objected to his nomination that if he wanted to contest election he must resign from the district nazim slot. On the objection, Mr Jatoi tendered his resignation which was approved by the respective authorities.

Meanwhile, Liaquat Baloch of MMA also filed his nomination papers for NA-178, from where two sons of Nawabzada Nasrullah — Nawabzada Iftikhar of PML-Q and Nawabzada Mansoor Khan of Pakistan Democratic Pakistan — are contesting. Ex-state minister Engineer Shahid Jamil Qureshi, Jamshed Dasti, former MNAs Tehmina Dasti and Malik Arbi Khar are also in the run.

On the other hand, the Khar family seems to be happy with the resignation of Mr Jatoi.

Sources said Malik Abdul Rehman, son of former governor Malik Ghulam Mustafa Khar, would contest for the district nazim slot as he did not submit his nominations for general elections.
