PESHAWAR, Nov 13: NWFP caretaker Chief Minister Shamsul Mulk has set up two committees for introducing reforms in the land revenue system and countering cutting of trees and smuggling of timber.
The committees were constituted at separate meetings presided over by the chief minister here on Tuesday.
The committee for proposing long-term and short-term improvements in the existing land revenue system will be headed by Provincial Minister for Finance and Planning and Development Azam Khan.
The senior member of the Board of Revenue will be its member.
The committee will engage a professional firm to get a plan for bringing transparency to the revenue department.
The other committee will be headed by Provincial Minister for Home Shahzada Gastasip Khan.
Provincial Minister Bakht Baidar will be the member of the committee.
The committee has been tasked to review the current policy and involve all stakeholders to control cutting and smuggling of timber and disposal of rusty and windfall timber.
The committee will also make recommendations to improve the state of the forest department.
