ABBOTTABAD, Nov 13: A convict was hanged in the Abbottabad prison on Tuesday morning in the murder case of Surgeon Naeem Sultan.

Major (retd) Tariq Mehmood Swati was found guilty of the crime committed in Abbotabad in 1998 and convicted by an anti-terrorism court in 1999.

The family of Major Tariq tried to enter into a compromise with the heirs of Surgeon Naeem and execution was postponed thrice so as to give them time to convince the deceased’s family.

Those attempts, however, remained fruitless.
