HYDERABAD, March 26: The Anti-Terrorism Court, Hyderabad, on Tuesday reserved order on the bail applications of the chairman, Jeay Sindh Quami Mahaz, Bashir Khan Qureshi, and vice chairman Dr Niaz Kalani in a sedition case.

The case, in which 54 persons were nominated, including the JSQM leaders, was lodged on November 24, 2000.

They had staged a sit-in in front of the Shah Murad Sugar Mills against the retrenchment of the mills workers.

Six accused have been granted bail in the case.

WITNESSES: Three prosecution witnesses recorded their statements in the kidnapping for ransom case of Arif Surti, a cloth merchant of the city.

The witnesses included Dohliyo, SI of the Faiz Ganj taluka police station, Jan Mohammad Jalbani, and Constable Awais.

Mr Surti was kidnapped on April 12 in the limits of the Qasimabad police station.

Hassan Rajjar, Faqir Inayat Hisbani, Raheem Bux, Sanwal and Liaquat Shah were the accused in the case.

TWO PICKED UP: The Sakhi Pir police on Sunday night picked up two activists of the banned Lashkar-i-Tayyaba, which has now been named as Al-Dawa-wal-Irshad, from their office in Liaquat Colony.

They were identified as Mr Arshad and Mr Irfan.

DELIMINATION: The Election Commission of Pakistan has reportedly sent the draft gazette of delimitation of national and provincial assembly constituencies of four districts of Hyderabad division to the Deputy Election Commission (DEC), Hyderabad, it was learnt here on Tuesday.

The office of the DEC will send the gazette to the respective districts for inviting objections from the constituents and former parliamentarians after getting directives from the EC.
