PPP leaders go underground

LARKANA, Nov 10: The entire leadership of Pakistan People’s Party Larkana, has gone underground after the arrest of its president MPA Ayaz Soomro while police launched a manhunt against the PPP activists and picked up four of them late on Friday night.

When contacted, MNA Anwar Bhutto, who is also general secretary of PPP Larkana, confirmed on Saturday that Abid Ali and Yunis, both workers of Sindh People’s Students Federation, were arrested from Banguldero. Barkat Shaikh, the treasurer of PPP Larkana, approached through cellphone, told Dawn that police had arrested two of his cousins, Asif and Fatah and two employees, Gul and Jawed and were searching for him.

Talking to Dawn on cellphone, Asghar Shaikh, the district information secretary of PPP Larkana, said police were searching for Khair Mohammad Shaikh, acting district president of PPP Larkana, Sanaullah Unnar, Saleem Soomro, Yasin Bhutto, Abid Jatoi and others.

Meanwhile, the district body of PPP met on Saturday at an undisclosed location said a press release.
