GUJRANWALA, Nov 6: A man trying to mediate two families exchanging bricks over a children brawl was killed while two others were injured in Kamoki on Tuesday.
Two families were pelting each other with stones in Salamatpura when Basharat Masih, Kashif Masih and Akram Masih intervened in the issue for mediation but they were hit by bricks and were injured. They were rushed to hospital where Basharat died while the condition of his brothers, Kashif and Akram, was stated to be critical. Police registered a case against the accused.
FINE: Special Magistrate Dr Ghulam Muhammad imposed a Rs21,000 collective fine on 18 milkmen on charge of selling adulterated milk.
District Coordination Officer Athar Husain Khan Sayal received complaints that milkmen and milk sellers were overcharging the customers. On his directions, the special magistrate raided shops on Ferozewala Road, Rakh Kikeranwali, Chicherwali and Jandiala Baghwala and fined them for selling milk for Rs30 per litter instead of Rs25. He also raided a meat shop and challaned him for not displaying the rate list.
THQ: The Kamoki Tehsil Headquarters Hospital is short of doctors thus leaving patients helpless.
The hospital serves 700,000 people of the city and its suburbs. Only three medical officers have been posted in the outdoor ward and two doctors in the emergency ward. Two doctors who were deployed in the emergency ward have been transferred. Medical Superintendent Dr Zafar Abbas Bukhari said four doctors were needed in the outdoor ward and had to examine 800 to 1,000 patients by himself every day. He said the Health Department had already been informed about the shortage of staff.
