ISLAMABAD, March 24: Chinese Vice Prime Minister Wu Bongguo said on Sunday that China would continue its support to Pakistan for its economic progress.
In an interview with PTV before his departure to his homeland after the completion of his four-day visit to Pakistan, Wu said the Gwadar deep sea port project would cement the relations between the countries. He said the port would serve as a symbol of Pakistan-China friendship in the twenty-first century.
He said the Karakuram Highway was an example of the perpetual friendship between Pakistan and China.
During his visit, the Chinese leader attended the ground-breaking ceremony of the port.
He was seen off at the airport by Communications Minister Javed Ashraf Qazi and Chinese Ambassador Lu Shu Lin. The minister presented him a photo album about his visit. The vice-premier thanked the minister for the hospitality extended to him and other members of his delegation.
Wu said he was satisfied by the visit and expressed the hope that the friendly relations between Pakistan and China would grow in the time to come.—APP
