LAHORE, Nov 1: Liquefied petroleum gas marketing companies on Thursday raised the price of a domestic cylinder of gas by Rs30 to Rs35 and commercial cylinder by Rs140 despite the federal government decision to suspend the linking of prices with the international market.

Criticising the increase in prices, LPG Distributor’s Association Chairman Irfan Khokhar said the retail price of gas would increase by Rs3 per kg from Rs55 to Rs58 as a result of increase in prices by the marketing companies.

He said the decision of the Economic Coordination Committee to link LPG prices with the international prices required to be withdrawn because 98 per cent gas was being produced in the country, but the marketing companies were minting money by selling the gas produced at a cost of Rs5 per kg for Rs58 per kg.
