RAWALPINDI, March 22: The Rawalpindi bench of Lahore High Court issued notice to the medical superintendent (MS) of Murree Tehsil Hospital to appear in the court in person on March 27 and explain as to why he had refused to issue a no-objection certificate (NoC) to a nurse who wanted to acquire further education in her profession.

Justice Sair Ali, on the petition of Safia Sultana, noted that the MS had no powers to stop his subordinates from acquiring higher education.

The petitioner, represented by Advocate Waqarul Haq Sheikh, cited the case of Rawalpindi General Hospital (RGH) Chief Nurse Kulsoom Akhtar who had been granted leave by the concerned medical superintendent on this account.

The petitioner stated that she had secured admission to the Pims Nursing College but had not been able to get an NoC from the MS.
