RAHIM YAR KHAN, Oct 26: The district chapter of the Pakistan Muslim League-Q (PML-Q) has accused ruling parliamentary figures and local council officials of neglecting the party affairs and promoting their vested interests. The leadership warned if ministers and tehsil and district nazims did not mend their ways, the party would face difficulties in the coming general elections.

PML-Q District President Makhdoom Musharraf Hashmi told a press conference on Friday that all parliamentary figures from the district were enjoying privileges and perks but had neglected party leaders and workers. He said there was a lack of coordination between the ruling personalities and the party organisation.

He said Chaudhry Muhammad Munir, adviser to the United Arab Emirates government, had funded millions to all assembly members and district and tehsil nazims to strengthen the party but all of them utilised the money for their personal projection.

He added district and tehsil nazims only patronised their sycophants and neglected the party workers.

PML District General Sectary Mian Zafar Iqbal said all federal and state ministers, members of the legislative assemblies and district and tehsil nazims had developed their “independent states in their constituencies and offices”.

He alleged the district nazim and Rahim Yar Khan tehsil nazim were fond of their self projection. On Aug 14, both officials spent Rs1.1 million for their “image building”, he alleged.

He warned if the ruling personalities did not mend their ways, results in the coming general elections would be different. He urged the PML-Q provincial leadership to empower the district leadership to decide the distribution of party tickets for the polls.

PML-Q Women’s Wing President Mahjabeen Mazari said that MNAs and MPAs from the PML-Q had neglected women party workers and they never invited them to any meeting.
