BEIJING, March 22: Federal Ombudsman Imtiaz Ahmed Sahibzada on Friday met his Chinese counterpart, He Yong, to enhance cooperation to strengthen the system of combating corruption and malpractice in the government departments.
They discussed the role of the 19-member Asian Ombudsmen’s Association. The executive members of the association met here on Thursday and decided to share their experience and expertise to help improve the working of government functionaries, said secretary to Federal Ombudsman’s secretariat, Zaheeruddin Babar.
At the meeting, the ombudsman emphasized the need for close interaction among the member countries to consolidate the system of providing relief to affected people.
He said Pakistan could learn a lot from the Chinese experience to achieve good governance and protect the rights of the people.
Pakistan and China should work together to improve the socioeconomic life of their people, he added.
Mr Babar told APP that the association’s general body would meet here in May to discuss the mechanism to strengthen the institution of ombudsman.—APP
