MIRPURKHAS, March 22: On the call of Pakistan Medical Association, a large number of doctors including lady doctors and paramedical staff held a protest demonstration and token hunger strike at the Civil Hospital Mirpurkhas on Friday against the killing of doctors at Karachi and the inordinate delay in the arrest of their killers.
The Sindh Graduates Association, Mirpurkhas, also participated in the protest and observed token hunger strike for an hour.
They wore black arm-bands and demanded the authorities to arrest the kidnappers of Dr Dildar Leghari, who was kidnapped by some unidentified dacoits a few days back.
Speaking on the occasion, the general secretary, PMA, Mirpurkhas, Dr Ghazi Khan Mari condemned the targeted killings and kidnapping of doctors.
He warned the authorities that their protest campaign would continue till the arrest of the killers and the recovery of the kidnapped doctor.
Adds Our Larkana Correspondent: Responding to the call of Pakistan Medical Association, the Larkana chapter of the PMA held a general body here on Friday to condemn the killings of doctors in Karachi.
Dr Ikram Tunio, Dr Abdul Waheed Memon, Dr Rashida Pirani and others in their speeches lamented the deaths of the doctors who had fallen prey to sectarian killings.
The speakers flaying issuance of show-cause notices to doctors, demanded of the Sindh to remove the provincial health secretary.
Adds Hyderabad Bureau: On the call of the Pakistan Medical Association, doctors wore block arm bands during the performance of their duties in government hospitals here on Friday as a mark of protest against the killing of doctors in Karachi.
