LAHORE, Oct 22: The Commission for Peace and Human Development (CPHD) has opposed imposing ban on public rallies during the forthcoming electioneering campaign and termed it a breach of fundamental rights.
Condemning the bomb blasts during Pakistan People’s Party rally in Karachi on Oct 18, CPHD Director Waseem Anthony said the incident had no doubt endangered the future of political culture in the country but the government could not escape responsibility of maintaining security and protecting the lives of citizens merely by imposing a ban on rallies during the electioneering campaign.
