PESHAWAR, Oct 22: The NWFP health department has devised a plan for public mobilisation campaigns in order to ensure immunisation of children against polio.
Details of the plan were hammered out at a meeting which discussed social mobilisation and communication strategies to eradicate polio on Monday.
It was attended by WHO’s Dr Sarfaraz Khan Afridi and Dr Khalid Nawaz, Assistant Director Expanded Programme on Immunization (EPI) Dr Mustafa and Programme Officer JICA Dr Syed Qamrul Hassan.
Participants maintained that efforts would be made to strengthen social mobilisation and communication strategies and data collection.
Those attending the meeting agreed to review the progress of polio campaigns. They also discussed ways to improve the post-campaign monitoring. Thorough training for market survey monitors was suggested.
