PESHAWAR, Oct 13: The Peshawar High Court Bar Association (PHCBA) will hold a peace conference after Eid to find a durable solution for restoring peace in the tribal areas.
Addressing the media persons here on Friday, PHCBA president Abdul Lateef Afridi said that if the current wave of militancy was not stopped, it would spread to all parts of the NWFP.
“We will invite all stakeholders, including the Taliban leaders from the North and South Waziristan, Bajaur and Mohmand agencies, Swat and other areas to the peace moot,” he added.
Mr Afridi said that hundreds of innocent tribesmen had been killed in the ongoing military operations in Mirali, Ippi and other areas of the North Waziristan Agency. He said if the situation in tribal areas, Bannu, Tank, Dera Ismail Khan and Swat was not controlled, the province would be heading for a civil war.
Peace could not be restored in the Fata without the involvement of militants in peace talks, he added.
