LAHORE, Oct 11: The district coordination officer on Thursday issued show-cause notices to two town municipal officers, suspended a town officer (regulations) from service, sent a market committee sub-registrar behind the bars while issued warning to the district office (livestock) during surprise raids at Shadman, Model Town and Wahdat Colony Ramazan Bazaars.

Umer Hayat was caught by DCO Mian Ijaz selling low-quality tomatoes at exorbitant price at the Wahdat Colony Ramazan Bazaar. Subsequently, a case against market committee sub-registrar Afsar Husain was got registered and he was sent to jail for three days along with Umer on DCO’s orders.

Samanabad TO (Regulations) Rana M Idrees was suspended from service and a case against him was got registered for not taking interest in the Ramazan Bazaars where vegetables were being sold at more than the prices fixed by the City District Government of Lahore. The TMO concerned was issued a show-cause notice on similar charges.

The Model Town TMO was issued a show-cause notice while traders Saleem and Rashid Ali were got arrested for not displaying the price list.

DO (Livestock) Nawaz Malik was warned by the DCO to be careful in future as he had not fixed the per kilo price of fish at the Shadman makeshift market.

The DCO directed Senior Admn Officer Mudassir Waheed to ensure till the night before Eid that no trader could sell essential items more than the prices fixed by the CDGL under Ramazan Package.

He also directed the officers concerned that the vendors selling edibles outside Ramazan Bazaars should be accommodated in the makeshift markets.

After consulting the customers present there, Mian Ijaz expressed satisfaction over flour supply situation and the price of the commodity. After arrivals from India, the prices of tomatoes, onion, ginger and other vegetables registered a decrease between Rs5 and Rs15 per kilo.

SLAUGHTERHOUSE: A six-member committee was constituted by the DCO on Thursday to review progress on work on the under-construction slaughterhouse at Chuhng.

Comprising Traffic Engineering and Transport Planning director, Iqbal Town TMO, Motorway DSP, NHA deputy director, district officers (roads and environment), the committee was asked to submit within 10 days a detailed report on road-cuts on the thoroughfares leading to the slaughterhouse.
