BADIN, Oct 11: The residents of village Bookhy in taluka Badin have appealed to the government to include their village in the Model Village Scheme.
Mohammad Ali Khan, Allah Ditto and other villagers told Dawn that the village, located on the main Badin-Khoski road which leads to district Mirpurkhas and Mithi, had been twice recommended in the past for the model village status by the federal government, but the scheme could not be started.
They said that their village was settled before the partition and had sufficient number of the deserving persons, but had been deprived of basic amenities.
They urged the government to consider their village for the model village status as the scheme would benefits the poor.
