Akram Zaki made PML-N vice-president

ISLAMABAD, March 20: The president of the Pakistan Muslim League (N), Nawaz Sharif, has appointed former chairman of the Senate’s standing committee on external affairs, M. Akram Zaki, as the central vice-president of the PML-N.

The PML-N’s central information secretary, Mohammad Siddiqul Farooq, said a notification to this effect had been issued by the general secretary, Saranjam Khan.

Mr Zaki has vast experience in national and international affairs. He was a career diplomat and served as Pakistan’s ambassador to China, the US, Nigeria, and the Philippines.

He rose to the rank of secretary-general/minister of state for foreign affairs 1991-93.

He joined the PML In January 1994. He is member of the Central Working Committee of the PML-N.—PPI
