KARACHI, Oct 6: Opener Ashfaq Ahmed smashed a rapid-fire half century to push M. Tex XI in the last-four round of the 22nd Karachi Gymkhana Tapal Trophy Cricket Festival when they beat Bed & Bath CC by 47 runs at the KG Ground on Saturday.
Ashfaq blasted 85 off 44 balls with five boundaries and a six and Nasir Jamshed cracked a 22-ball 36 as M. Tex XI posted 193 for seven in 20 overs.
Bed & Bath CC in reply were restricted to 146-7 in 20 overs. Tariq Haroon hit a defiant 59 with three fours and four sixes after facing 44 balls.
Left-arm paceman Kamran Hussain took three for 20 in a fiery spell. Ashfaq clinched the Man-of-the-Match award for his splendid knock.
Medicam will take on Qasmi CC on Sunday to decide the remaining qualifiers for the semi-finals. KESC have already secured a place in the semi-finals.
