HYDERABAD, Oct 4: More than 300 employees of many union councils in Hyderabad district have not received their salaries for past three months.
This was stated by the employees holding protest demonstration here on Thursday.
Talking to newsmen they said that they had approached the nazims of union councils, tehsil councils and zila council but they were given just empty assurances.
Protesters said that they had also visited secretariat in Karachi but to no avail and they were not given salaries even during the month of Ramazan.
They warned that if they were not paid within two days they could take any extreme measure for which the authorities would be responsible.
POLICEMEN DENIED SALARY: The staff of the operation wing of the Larkana district police have not been able to draw their September salaries due to the non-posting of a district police officer.
District Police Officer Abdul Azim Tunio had been transferred and directed to report to CPO Karachi. He relinquished his charge about 10 days ago to SP Investigation, Nisar Channa.
According to sources over 2,900 police personnel were working in the operation wing in Larkana district from BPS-1 to 16 who were deprived of their monthly salaries.
The pay bills submitted to the district accounts officer had returned back with the objection that SP Investigation did not have the authority to sign pay bills of the employees.
The SP Investigation, Nisar Channa informed the situation to DIG Sukkur who forwarded a letter to the provincial police officer, Sindh, for further necessary action as the DIG was not competent to allow any officer the powers and the regional police officer, Sukkur zone, has gone to perform Umra.
The matter is still pending at PPO office in Karachi.
The policemen had urged higher authorities to take necessary action immediately and vacant post of District Police Officer Larkana be filled preferably with a PSP officer.—PPI
