LAHORE, Sept 25: The National Commission for Justice and Peace (NCJP) has condemned the government’s failure in apprehending perpetrators who killed seven of the commission’s staffers in Karachi on Sept 25, 2002.
In a statement issued on the fifth anniversary of the slain staffers, NCJP representatives Father Emmanuel Yousaf and Peter Jacob said the government had not only failed to apprehend the culprits involved in the Sept 25, 2002 incident, it had also failed to arrest perpetrators involved in destruction of Shanti Nagar in 1997, killing of 15 worshippers in a Bahawalpur church in Oct 2004 and another three at Daska on Dec 25, 2002.
They said the government should take notice of recent threats being hurled at minorities in Charsadda, Mardan and Peshawar in NWFP and Shanti Nagar in Punjab to embrace Islam or close down churches and migrate to other areas. — Reporter
