KARACHI, Sept 21: A press show of a 35-minute documentary on the life and works of Syed Abul-Ala Maudoodi, founder of the Jamaat-i-Islami, was held at the Karachi Press Club on Friday on the eve of his 105th birth anniversary. JI’s Naib Amir Prof Ghafoor Ahmad shed light on the person, works and services of the late scholar, and said that the books and literature authored by Maulana Maudoodi brought millions of people back to the path of Islam after they distanced themselves from their religion.

Through his literature, the Maulana strived for the establishment of a true Islamic order in the world by bringing about a change in people’s mindset and approach towards religion and lifestyle, he added.

Referring to the current situation in the country, Prof Ghafoor said that the nefarious designs of the elements who were bent upon turning Pakistan into a secular state would never succeed. “Pakistan is destined to become a true Islamic welfare state,” he declared.

Prof Ghafoor said that 60 years after Pakistan came into being, the so-called intellectuals using electronic and other media had started claiming that Quaid-i-Azam wanted Pakistan to become a secular state. He also lambasted the notion that “Mulla is a symbol of threat.”

Prof Ghafoor also made mention of Maulana Maudoodi’s role in getting the “Objective Resolution” adopted and made an integral part of the Constitution. His contribution to the preparation of the 1973 Constitution cannot also be forgotten,” he added.
