TOBA TEK SINGH, Sept 19: The Arrouti police recovered a 14-year-old boy who had been kidnapped for Rs10 million ransom a few days back from a village in Mailsi.
It was learnt that the police also arrested some accused, but they did not disclose their arrest.
The police traced the culprits with the help of a mobile company whose Sims were used by kidnappers from Rahim Yar Khan during the settlement of the ransom money.
A police team, headed by a Kamalia DSP, raided the hideout of the kidnappers and recovered from there Ali Asghar, son of landlord Syed Ikhlaq Hussain of Mouza Shapur, Kamalia.
TEXTBOOKS: Hundreds of fifth class students of government primary schools in the district could not get free textbooks.
Most of the parents have to purchase textbooks from the market as the education department have fallen down on the job of arranging free books to all students under the chief minister’s “Parha Likha Punjab” programme.
Pirmahal’s assistant education officer Rafiq Tahir admitted that there were over 1,000 students in the town, but not a single student could get textbooks.
