LAHORE, Sept 17: A division bench of the Lahore High Court has acquitted six persons who were sentenced to death for abduction, ransom and killing 12-year-old Yasir, whose body was recovered from a canal in Toba Tek Singh.
The bench comprised Justice Mian Najamuz Zaman and Justice Ijaz Ahmed Chaudhry. The convicts were charged under section 365-A and 302 PPC along with section 7 (a) of the Anti-Terrorism Act, 1997.
Asif, Kashif, Tahir, Mukhtar, Pervaiz and Mazhar were awarded death sentence by the Anti-Terrorism Court, Sargodha.The counsel for appellants argued that the case was a classic example of fabrication of evidence and consequently the prosecution failed to prove its case. — Reporter
