HYDERABAD, March 17: The workers of the food department grain godowns continued their hunger strike on the 41st consecutive day here on Sunday to press for the acceptance of their demands.

Talking to newsmen, Mohammad Akram Halepoto, Ghulam Shabbir Soomro, Obaidullah and others said that the godown watchmen had not received their salaries for the last three months and their children were starving.

Their other demands include fixation of minimum wages at Rs1870, regularization of the employees who had completed five years of service, supply of uniforms and removal of the in charge of the Hyderabad godowns.

They warned that if the workers took any extreme step, the provincial food and finance departments and the Sindh government would be responsible.
