HYDERABAD, March 17: A youth from Karachi, Mohammad Shiraz alias Manna, committed suicide by shooting himself with a pistol here in the room of a hotel located in Gari Khata late Saturday night.
He arrived in the hotel on Friday and deposited Rs750 at the counter. The hotel employees told Dawn the youth had told them he would leave for Karachi on Saturday at 8pm.
They claimed when the youth was informed about his check-out time, he left the hotel for making some telephone calls through a telephone booth. He returned after 30 minutes and went upstairs.
The telephone operator of the hotel got no response when he gave a ring to the room to ask the youth for checking out.
The hotel management informed SHO, Makki Shah police, Aftab Abbasi, who rushed to spot.
The police opened the door only to find the youth, who was wearing black coloured Shalwar Qamiz lying on the bed.
Only one bullet was fired from the pistol. The bullet passed through his skull and hit a wall.
Deceased was resident of Federal Capital area, Karachi.
Police informed his family members. His father and two neighbours, reached the hotel.
Shiraz, who was a movie maker by profession, had left Karachi on Friday after informing his younger brother.
His neighbours said that he was not involved in any kind of unlawful activities.
His body was handed over to the police.
