Four gunned down over monetary row

SHEIKHUPURA, Sept 16: Four people, including a passerby, were gunned down while two others were injured over a monetary issue at Chak 11/RB (Borianwala) in Nankana district, some 50 kms from here on Sunday.

Reports reaching here said that two rival groups of the same locality were gathered outside a house for reconciliation in the presence of some village elders.

During the patch-up discussion, men of the Abbas and Yaqoob groups fell into a rage on some point and opened fire on each other. Consequently, Abbas, Nadeem, Misbah, the daughter of Yaqoob, and a passerby, Sattar, died on the spot while Fiaz and Yaqoob sustained bullet wounds. They were admitted to a nearby hospital.

Khanqah Dogran police have registered a case against 16 accused from both sides.

CONDEMNATION: Activists of the JUI-F condemned the killing of their leader Maulana Hassan Jan here on Sunday.

At a meeting held at the Jamia Masjid Eidgah, participants demanded the arrest of the killers within two days.
