People not to accept injustice, says Altaf

KARACHI, Sept 8: Muttahida Qaumi Movement chief Altaf Hussain says that masses will hold accountable anyone committing injustice. Mr Hussain was addressing a meeting of workers of his party on Saturday night. A documentary on efforts of Karachi Nazim Mustafa Kamal and details of development projects carried out by the city government over the past two years was screened on the occasion.People attending the meeting replied in the affirmative when Mr Hussain asked them if they were ready to narrate their accounts of the May 12 event at any forum.

He made it clear that people would not tolerate any misbehaviour with lawyers, especially those belonging to the MQM’s Legal Aid Committee. “All matters should be dealt with in accordance with the law and the Constitution. But anyone trying to pressurise any party worker or lawyer should be held accountable,” he warned.

The MQM leader said that all political parties were free to carry out development work in Karachi. “MQM does not believe in negative politics.”

He warned the elements who, he said, were conspiring to eliminate the MQM. He said such a move would harm the country’s solidarity. Mr Hussain observed that courts should treat the rich and the poor alike and avoid treating influential people leniently.

Praising the city nazim’s efforts, he said that no mayor had done so much for Karachi in the past 60 years.

He claimed that if the establishment allowed the party to work freely in the country, it had the potential to transform the country.

“If we can change Karachi in only two years, we can also change the entire country,” he said.

He directed the nazim to take immediate steps to emply more women.

He also urged the federal government to substantially increase the country’s education budget.
