Eight Zakhakhel tribesmen arrested

LANDI KOTAL, Sept 6: The Khyber Agency political authorities on Thursday arrested eight Zakhakhel tribesmen and impounded five vehicles under the collective territorial responsibility law of the Frontier Crime Regulations.

Officials and residents said the authorities took action

under section 21 of the FCR

to put pressure on the people

of the tribe to hand over five

alleged kidnappers to the

administration.

The detained men included Meraj Gul, Khan Asghar, Raziq, Shakeel, Khanazay, Khyal Mohammad, Arbab Khan and Sher Rawan.

According to the officials Markaz Khan, Sher Afzal, Said Wali, Khan Afzal and Said Nawaz were involved in the kidnapping of two senior officers of the City Development and Municipal Department, Peshawar.

The officers were recovered next day.

An accomplice of the kidnappers, identified as Khanai Zakhakhel, was killed during an encounter with the Khasadar force while fleeing after the kidnapping incident.

KILLED: A personnel of Khasadar force, Shafiullah, was killed when a pick-up he was travelling in fell into a canal near the Marble Chowk in the Malagori area.—Correspondent
