ISLAMABAD, Sept 4: The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) is trying to get hold of top bureaucrats who are allegedly involved in corruption and misappropriation of government funds and who have gone abroad.

The NAB has sought the assistance of the Interpol and the Secretariat General of International Crime Police Organisation (ICPO). Interpol, based in Lyon, France, has issued red notices against five absconders, a NAB press release has said.

The accused are wanted in cases of corruption, fraud, forgery, criminal breach of trust and corrupt practices.

The absconders against whom the notices have been issued by Interpol are: Raheel Jalal Maula Qureshi, ex-acting manager of the Gas Development Corporation of Pakistan; Inam-ur-Rehman Sehri, ex-superintendent of Railway Police; Dr C.M. Anwar Khan, chairman of Pakistan Agriculture Research Council (PARC); Muzaffar Nishat, assistant director, PARC, and Aslam Pervaiz Durani, assistant technical officer of the PARC.

The bureau has already issued arrest warrants against the absconding accused.

According to reports, a gas sales agreement was executed between UCH Power Limited and Oil and the OGDC of Pakistan on Aug 4, 1994.
