SAHIWAL, Sept 4: As many as 4,206 telephones went silent on early Tuesday when unidentified thieves snapped the PTCL cable near Chak 94/6R.

The PTCL officials said the snapped cable linked the Farid Town exchange to some villages, Jahaz ground locality and some important government offices.

They said as the company was facing a shortage of cable at the local level, it would take at least 48 hours to restore the service.

Police concerned are investigating the matter.
