PARACHINAR, Sept 4: Four people were killed and at least 19 others suffered injuries when two tribes clashed over a land dispute in central Kurram Agency on Tuesday, officials and witnesses said.

They said the Masozai and Parachamkani tribes had used heavy weapons that left four men dead and 19 others, including two women and a child, wounded. Rival tribesmen had occupied positions on hilltops and in bunkers and were targeting each other’s positions.

Political Agent Sahibzada Mohammad Anees told reporters that efforts were being made to broker a ceasefire in the area.

He said that a reconciliatory jirga comprising MNA Munir Khan Orakzai, Senator Rashid Ahmad Khan and tribal elders was holding talks with the warring tribesmen to end the dispute.—Correspondent
