PESHAWAR, Sept 2: A woman on Sunday accused an army officer of forcibly evicting her from her house and appealed to the Chief Justice of the Peshawar High Court to provide her justice against the person wielding considerable influence.

Addressing a press conference at the press club, Mrs Nawaz of Warsak Road, said that she had purchased a private school built over a plot measuring six kanals from Syed Saeedul Hadi, a retired brigadier, in April 2006.

She said that she had already paid Rs2 million in cash to the school’s owner and only Rs400,000 were outstanding against her. But, the retired army officer changed his mind and wanted to take the school back.

She said that a local court had ruled that she was the legal owner of the school and issued a stay order in her favour. The army officer, she alleged, had been threatening her for the past several months, wanting to get back the school’s possession.

The woman, who was accompanied by her son, claimed that the army officer had attacked her house along with some armed men, adding that she and her son had been humiliated before their possessions were thrown out on the street. She appealed to the PHC chief justice and the chief minister for protection, saying she and her family were being threatened.—Bureau
